Our hotel ships can immediately provide shelter to refugees/asylum seekers. Moreover, Slaapschepen can offer catering services and various facilities, including washing machines and kitchens on board. Via our service, we support governments in accommodating refugees in a safe and calm place for the time-being.
Our hotel ships have previously served as refugee housing for the COA in The Netherlands (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers).
Refugee housing, temporary housing on water
The government is responsible for providing refugee housing with temporary residence during the asylum procedures. Our hotel ships can be deployed for this purpose. We specialize in providing ships of various sizes tailored to the needs of temporary accommodation.
We focus on rapid scalability with our quality standards. After mobilizing a ship with sufficient capacity, we ensure a swift deployment to the designated location. Onboard, office space is available for accompanying personnel from safety regions and partners. For the residents, intended comfort and safety are central onboard. All this enables residents to resume life as much as possible. For instance, the hotel ships are equipped with classrooms/study spaces and laundry facilities, and we handle all the catering, cleaning, and security. Our services can be tailored to the specific requirements of the situation.
A safe and comfortable place to sleep
On board, there is office space available for COA supervisory staff. For the residents, the intended comfort and safety is central on board. Everything to enable them to resume regular life as much as possible. Among other things, the ships are equipped with classrooms/study areas, rooms to do laundry and Slaapschepen takes on full catering, cleaning and security. Everything is adaptable to the specific requirements of the situation.

COA - Emergency shelter for asylum seekers and status holders
At the request of the COA, we inspected and contracted the barges Progress and Renaissance for a long-term reception location. Both barges were transported in combination on an HLV (heavy load vessel) during the mobilization phase. Slaapschepen provided chartering and project management for this project, both in the mobilization and operational phases of the project.
